What is a Closed Sinus Lift?

A closed sinus lift is a surgical procedure designed to increase bone volume in the upper posterior (molar) area of the jaw.
It is performed when there is insufficient bone height for implant placement — often after tooth loss or due to natural anatomical features of the upper jaw.

During the procedure, the dentist carefully lifts the sinus floor through a small opening at the implant site and fills the space with bone graft material. The operation is performed without large incisions or opening the sinus cavity, making it safe, minimally invasive, and comfortable for the patient.

This method is suitable for patients with a minor bone deficiency — typically up to 3–5 mm. An implant is placed during the same visit, significantly reducing overall treatment time.
